The Girl and the Rescue Hedgehog

Maya is a young girl who likes to be helpful, and she is rarely seen without her yellow rain boots. She pays close attention to her garden, watching over the plants and creatures there and waiting for a chance to lend a hand. One day she finds a small hedgehog with an injured paw and decides that she can take care of it on her own. She brings a cookie and makes a cozy box for the animal, but the hedgehog rolls itself into a spiky ball, and Maya is left puzzled and uncertain about what to do next.

Unsure how to proceed, she asks her kind neighbor, Mr. Okafor, for advice, and he recommends contacting a wildlife center. Dr. Fern soon arrives and carefully treats the hedgehog, showing Maya how to handle it safely and explaining that kindness works best alongside expert help. Written by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL, this tale follows Maya as she turns what she learned into posters for her neighborhood, so that others know what to do when they find a hurt animal.
