Eight-year-old Maya is fascinated by low tide, when the ocean draws back to expose its hidden treasures. One morning, while wandering the wet sand and peering into sparkling tide pools, she kneels beside the largest pool and finds a tiny golden-orange seahorse named Pip, no bigger than her thumb, with a strand of green seagrass wrapped around its neck like a scarf. Pip speaks in a bubbly little voice and reveals that the swaying seagrass is an underwater meadow—a garden that provides food and hiding places for seahorses. But Pip’s meadow is shrinking, and a patch of brown, dying grass marks where trash once piled up.

Maya learns that seahorses are slow swimmers and cannot simply move away, and she sees the pollution for herself: a plastic bottle tangled in the seagrass and a crumpled wrapper floating nearby. Though she feels small, Pip tells her that people listen to kids. With her teacher, Ms. Linden, Maya researches seagrass and seahorses, discovering that underwater meadows work like busy cities for sea creatures, offering food, shelter, and clean water. At home she paints Pip and the meadow, writes simple facts on colorful cards, and her best friend Leo helps cut out paper fish for a school exhibition titled 'Underwater Meadows: Homes for Seahorses.' This gentle story, written by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL, follows a curious girl who turns a chance encounter into a lesson for her whole class. It can be read on Masal İzle.
