Maya adores the aquarium and never tires of watching the octopus tank, especially a small coral-orange octopus with amber eyes that peeks out and curls an arm in a friendly wave. When a guide with round glasses explains that octopuses can open jars, solve puzzles and recognise faces, Maya is inspired to show visitors just how clever these animals are.
With the guide's help, Maya prepares small plastic jars filled with shrimp and crab and lowers them into the tank before a growing crowd. The little octopus examines each lid, wraps its arms around the jar and works out how to open it, from a simple twist lid to one with a latch and then a row of three jars with different lids. Each success brings gasps and cheers, and Maya's notebook drawings become a real demonstration. This tale by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL can be read on Masal İzle and follows a curious girl and a clever octopus whose gentle friendship shows that intelligence takes many forms.
