On a bright, sunny morning, Maya arrives at an animal sanctuary with a small green backpack filled with carrots and a special brush. She is eager to meet all the animals, but her attention is captured by a small, fluffy alpaca standing alone in a grassy meadow. The alpaca has cream-white fleece, a caramel patch over one eye, and a red braided collar. When Maya approaches, the alpaca steps back. Remembering her teacher's advice that animals need time to feel safe, Maya crouches low and waits instead of rushing forward.

Each day, Maya returns to the sanctuary, moving slowly and speaking softly. She learns to interpret the alpaca's signals: stiff, pointed ears mean it is uncomfortable; relaxed, drooping ears mean it is calm; a soft hum means contentment; and flattened ears mean it needs space. With fresh green grass on her open palm and later a special brush, Maya lets the alpaca decide how close to come. When a loud, windy afternoon frightens the little animal, she stays calm and patient instead of chasing it. This gentle children's story, written by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL, follows Maya as she names her new friend Pepper and discovers that trust is built slowly through kindness and quiet attention. The tale can be read on Masal İzle.
