In a small house beside the wide blue ocean lives Leo, a boy in a bright yellow jacket who spends his mornings on the rocks, listening to the waves, the wind and the low songs of whales. He hums along and wonders about the sounds drifting over the water. One sunny day a new, bubbly tune reaches him, and it belongs to a small blue-grey whale with a speckled belly and a strand of green seaweed around one flipper. Leo names the whale Pip, and their friendship grows entirely through sound.
All afternoon the two trade songs, with Pip clicking, humming and whistling while Leo answers on his silver whistle. The ocean begins to feel like a large music box full of tiny whispers and cheerful calls. When evening comes, Leo wants others to hear what he has heard, so with his teacher's help he prepares a class presentation about whale sounds. This gentle tale by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL is written for young children and early readers and can be read on Masal İzle.
