Nine-year-old Leo is drawn to the quiet wetland at the end of the gravel path, where he longs to sketch every bird, reed and ripple he can find. One morning a little heron with soft blue-grey feathers, a white chest and round amber eyes steps out of the reeds, and Leo is sure he has found his subject. Yet the bird flies off at the slightest movement, so the boy gives himself a simple task: to sit still, count slowly to one hundred, and watch without disturbing anything.

Morning after morning Leo returns to the same flat log with his sketchbook and pencils, learning where the heron likes to stand, how it rests on one leg, and how the silver band on its leg catches the light. Each gain in stillness brings the bird nearer, and patience teaches him more than drawing alone ever could. Written by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL, this gentle tale can be read on Masal İzle and follows one boy, one bird and one wetland across a handful of mornings.
