On the edge of a sleepy pond, a curious boy named Leo spends his mornings watching birds and sketching in his canvas satchel. When a sleek black cormorant surfaces beside him with a silver fish in its hooked beak, Leo becomes captivated and begins returning to the pond to fill his sketchbook with drawings and notes about the bird's long neck, glossy feathers, webbed feet and bright emerald eyes.

Wanting to understand how the cormorant lives so easily in the water, Leo turns to library books and questions for the old fisherman, Mr. Chen, learning about feathers that trap air and shed water, feet that paddle like oars, and eyes that see beneath the surface. He tests what he has learned by watching the bird preen, dive and weather a windy day, then shapes his observations into a guide for other children. Written by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL, this gentle nature story can be read on Masal İzle.
