Oliver is a young boy who spends his mornings by the quiet river at the edge of his village, carrying his sketchbook and paints. He hopes to draw a kingfisher, the most beautiful and shyest bird on the river, but the bird always darts away before he can capture its image. Frustrated, Oliver seeks advice from his grandfather, who teaches him that patience and stillness are the keys to observing nature's secrets.
Following his grandfather's guidance, Oliver returns to the river day after day. He finds a hidden spot behind a bush and sits very still, watching the water flow and the dragonflies dance. Slowly, he learns the kingfisher's habits: its favorite branch near the old oak tree, its morning fishing routine, and its afternoon rest. He fills his sketchbook with notes and sketches, gradually becoming a true observer. This heartwarming story by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL teaches children the value of perseverance and the rewards of connecting with nature. The tale can be read on Masal İzle.
