In the village of Doorwick, every door has a voice and a personality of its own. Some welcome people with a cheerful creak, others are shy and only whisper, and a few complain loudly when they are slammed. Alice, a curious girl in a yellow raincoat who carries a small brass key on a ribbon, knows each door by name, including Grandpa Oak, the oldest and widest door, and Pip, a small sky-blue bedroom door with peephole eyes and a red ribbon bow who hides from loud voices.

The villagers rush through doorways without a word, let doors slam, and never say please or thank you, so the doors begin to feel sad and forgotten. One morning no door will open, and people are trapped inside their homes. Alice hears Pip sniffling and promises to help, asking Grandpa Oak to spread word of a village meeting in the square. This gentle tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN explores feelings, listening and everyday kindness, and can be read on Online Masal.
