In the heart of the woods, where tall pines whisper and frost paints ferns silver, a little rabbit named Lily lives in her cozy burrow. With her round spectacles, moss-green scarf and a small leather satchel of rolled papers, Lily loves to watch the sky and wonder what the day will bring. One cold morning she decides the woods need a newspaper, and she writes her first headline about sunny skies and crisp air. Her friend Pip the squirrel, an energetic bundle in a blue buttoned vest, eagerly agrees to deliver the papers door to door.
Each day Lily notes the wind, the clouds and the temperature, and Pip carries her reports through the woodland. Old Badger reads the news aloud to a group of young animals, and Mrs. Hedgehog tucks each paper into her woven basket, sharing apples and blankets with her neighbors. The newspaper becomes the heart of the community, connecting burrows, nests and dens. Then Lily notices dark clouds piling up like gray mountains and an icy bite in the wind. She checks her instruments and realizes a big snowstorm is coming, so she writes a special edition warning everyone to prepare.
