Pip is a small penguin chick with a fluffy grey head, a tiny orange beak, and a little red scarf knitted by his mama. Every night he waddles to the edge of the ice to watch the moon, which makes him feel warm and safe. One evening he notices that the moon looks like a silver cookie with a bite taken out, and his mama gently explains that the moon changes shape in phases and always comes back. Pip is not convinced, so he begins watching the sky night after night, puzzled by how the moon shifts from round to half to a thin sliver.
When thick grey clouds cover the sky and the moon disappears entirely, Pip panics and fears it is gone forever. His mama comforts him and takes him to Nimbus, a wise petrel with long wings and a calm manner, who explains that clouds are like a blanket hiding the moon and that the moon's changing shapes are a slow dance caused by its journey around the Earth. This gentle story by Ebru Mina TOMURCUK introduces young children to the night sky and can be read on Onlinemasal Com.Tr.
