On a bright, frosty morning at the edge of the great white ice, a little penguin named Pip sets out to explore, wearing his favorite blue knitted scarf. His curiosity leads him to a glittering object half-buried in the snow: a crystal telescope etched with frost patterns and glowing faintly blue. Pip tries to use it but finds it wobbling and blurry, unsure of how it works.
Just then, a petrel named Sky swoops down and offers help. Sky shows Pip how to balance the telescope on a block of ice and look through the silver ring. Pip is amazed to see distant clouds up close. Sky explains that curiosity makes the telescope glow brighter, and that the more you ask and wonder, the more it shows you. They agree to meet at night to look at the stars.
