On a bend of a wide, slow river lives a young otter named Ollie, easy to spot in his faded blue work apron with a red pencil tucked behind one ear. He is always building something new, and his latest creation is a flying boat with wooden wings and a little fan that lets it float above the water. Before anyone else can ride it, Ollie decides he must test it himself, and he asks Pip the kingfisher, a sharp-eyed bird with a little green scarf, to act as his guide on the first journey.
Pilot and guide set off over the sparkling river, with Pip calling out warnings about tree branches and rocks while Ollie steers. The flight is not smooth: gusts tip the boat sideways and the fan sputters when they go too fast. Ollie tightens a loose peg with a tiny wrench and later sketches bigger wings in the sand before trying again. This gentle tale by Ebru Mina TOMURCUK follows a maker who tests his own invention and a friend whose watchful eyes keep the journey safe. It can be read on Onlinemasal Com.Tr.
