In a peaceful valley where animals live without fear of one another, a young lioness cub named Lila watches birds and monkeys share what they have and wonders why all creatures cannot be friends. Wearing a grass bracelet with three blue beads from her grandmother, she meets a zebra foal named Zoe, who asks whether she will be chased. Instead, Lila offers to share her breakfast, and the two begin meeting each day by an old acacia tree.
When a drought arrives and the watering hole shrinks, the valley's animals start to grumble and blame each other. Zoe points out that arguing will not refill the hole and suggests searching for clues instead. This gentle story by Jane MEADOW follows the two friends as their bond grows into something larger, showing young readers how curiosity and cooperation can bring very different creatures together. The tale can be read on Kids Tale Book.
