Beside a river that winds like a silver ribbon, a kingfisher with turquoise and orange feathers lives in a willow tree and longs to fly alongside the fish. One bright day he sets out to build a kite shaped like a fish, carving a thin wooden spine, painting silver and blue scales, and adding paper fins, a smiling mouth and a flowing fabric tail. The kite looks splendid, yet in the meadow it wobbles, dips and tumbles to the ground again and again.
A tall grey heron emerges from the reeds with a canvas satchel and a measuring string and offers to help. Together they test the kite, tying a small weight to the tail, shifting it forward and back, adding a paper fin and shortening a streamer. Each attempt teaches them something, and the kingfisher gradually stops stamping his feet and begins to enjoy the testing itself. This gentle tale by Ebru Mina TOMURCUK follows patient, step-by-step work and the friendship that makes every try more fun; it can be read on Onlinemasal Com.Tr.
