The Hedgehog's Birthday Card

Pip is a small hedgehog with soft golden-brown spines and a knitted moss-green scarf, living in a cozy burrow beneath an old oak tree. Each morning he looks out at the woodland and wishes his dear friend Hazel, who now lives far beyond the whispering pines, could share the view with him. On her birthday, missing her deeply, he decides to make her a card, though his leaf is too small and his charcoal too blunt.

What starts as one hedgehog's small idea soon grows as woodland animals join in: Clover the rabbit, Nutmeg the squirrel, Professor Hoot the owl, a mouse, a badger and a family of voles each add something of their own until the card becomes a patchwork of friendship. The animals then face the trickiest task of all, finding a way to send it beyond the whispering pines. Written by Çınar BİBER, this warm story can be read on Masalcı Baba and gently explores missing a friend and asking others for help.
