The Hedgehog's Birthday

Hugo the hedgehog enjoys a peaceful life in a snug burrow under a large oak tree, fond of soft moss, warm sunbeams and the quiet of the forest at dusk. Loud sounds make him curl into a prickly ball, so as his birthday nears he fears a noisy party would overwhelm him and confides in his friend Poppy the rabbit that crowds make him feel small.

Poppy listens and asks Bramble the bear cub and Luna the owl to help arrange a celebration that fits Hugo instead of startling him, prepared quietly at night so no twig snaps. Written by Jane MEADOW, this gentle picture-book tale can be read on Kids Tale Book and explores honest feelings, attentive friendship and calm celebrations for shy young children, parents and teachers.
