Maya visits the Sunny Meadow Sanctuary each day, drawn to Pepper, a cream-and-white rescue pony who stays at the far end of the paddock. Mr. Hale, who runs the sanctuary, explains that rescued ponies have known hard times and must relearn that the world is safe. Patient and quiet by nature, Maya decides to return every day and keep things calm, bringing a carrot in her green satchel and offering only her steady presence.

The story follows her slow, gentle routine: sitting on an upturned bucket, humming a soft tune, opening the gate the same way each morning, and waiting. When Pepper finally steps close enough to sniff her boot, Maya still does not reach out. With Mr. Hale's guidance she learns to groom the pony in the same order every time, neck then shoulder then back then tangled mane, followed by a small piece of carrot. Routine becomes the language through which fear gradually gives way to trust. This gentle tale by Çınar BİBER can be read on Masalcı Baba.
