On a bright Saturday morning, Maya visits Sunny Hollow Farm, where Farmer Jo introduces her to Pip, a rescue hen with rust-orange feathers and a droopy wing. Pip came from a rescue group and has had a hard start, but she is safe now. Yet when Maya kneels beside the coop, she notices that Pip just sits and stares, as if waiting for something that never comes.

Maya observes that the hen seems bored and asks Farmer Jo what hens need. Learning that hens are clever birds that love to search for food, Maya uses a notebook from her green satchel to design a foraging game. She fills a tray with hay, scatters seeds and mealworms, ties a cabbage leaf to a string, and stuffs a cardboard tube with straw and seeds. Pip pecks, scratches, chases and explores, growing busier and brighter-eyed with each new challenge. The tale can be read on Masalcı Baba. Written by Çınar BİBER, it gently shows how noticing what someone needs can lead to kindness and care.
