Maya is a small girl with big hazel eyes and curly dark-brown hair who loves to explore, and the friendly farm at the end of her street is her favourite place. One sunny morning she pulls on her yellow rain boots, shoulders her green canvas satchel and sets off, unaware that a special friend is waiting for her. Behind a hay bale she finds Pip, a fuzzy pink piglet with floppy ears, a heart-shaped patch on his forehead and a blue ribbon collar with a little brass bell. The farmer explains that Pip was rescued only a few days ago and is still frightened of everything new, so Maya sits quietly on the grass and decides to show him, slowly and gently, that she is a friend.
Day after day Maya returns with soft toys and tasty treats. She rolls a cuddly toy sheep across the grass, scatters a trail of apple slices and carrot sticks, builds a cardboard playhouse lined with blankets, and invents gentle games such as hide-and-seek and roll the ball. Each small step Pip takes is met with quiet encouragement rather than pressure, and bit by bit his fear gives way to curiosity. This patient friendship between a curious child and a rescued animal, written by Çınar BİBER, shows how trust is built through kindness, calm voices and time. The tale can be read on Masalcı Baba.
