On a bright Saturday, Maya dresses in her red hooded jacket and yellow rain boots, takes her small silver camera, and walks with Grandpa Tom to the riverbank. He promises she will see something wonderful, and along the slow, clear river she watches flickering fish and croaking frogs while he explains that a healthy river is full of life.
Then an osprey with dark brown wings, a snowy head and chest, a dark facial mask and bright yellow eyes swoops low over the water. Maya raises her camera as the bird hovers, folds its wings and dives with a splash, coming up with a fish. A woman with a clipboard introduces herself as the River Keeper and explains that the osprey fishes only where the water is clean. This gentle story by Çınar BİBER follows Maya as she photographs the dive and later shares her pictures at a river conservation exhibition, and it can be read on Masalcı Baba.
