On a sunny morning near her grandmother's farm, Lily notices a small grey donkey behind a wooden fence. Eager to make a new friend, she rushes toward him with a loud greeting, but the donkey's ears flatten and he gallops off to hide behind a large oak tree. Lily feels confused and a little sad until her grandmother explains that the animal is shy and responds better to quiet and patience than to noise and hurry.

Lily decides to try again, returning day after day to approach the fence slowly, crouch low and whisper softly. She brings fresh grass, watches the donkey's ears for signs of comfort or worry, and gives him the space he needs. Over time he steps closer, nuzzles her hand and rests his head on her shoulder, and the two become best friends. Written by Çınar BİBER, this gentle tale about building trust through kindness can be read on Masalcı Baba.
