Finn the fox lives in a den under a willow tree and always carries a worn leather satchel with an old notebook and stubby pencil inside. He loves drawing but doesn't know the notebook is magic: whatever he sketches comes to life when the moon rises. When he shows his best friend Pip, a sandy-brown rabbit in a red vest, they are thrilled. Willow the owl, with round spectacles and a moss-green scarf, warns that magic drawings demand responsibility, but Finn's tail wags with mischief.
That evening Finn sketches a flying teapot for fun, giving it a tea-towel cape, painted eyes and stubby legs. At midnight it comes alive, puffs steam, and sails over the treetops, sprinkling tea leaves and tangling in the badger's laundry. The next morning the forest is in an uproar, and Finn realizes his careless drawing caused real trouble. With Pip and Willow beside him, he sets out to put things right, learning to plan before drawing and to use his gift gently.
