Daisy the duck and Freddie the frog are the best of friends in a big, bright pond. Daisy has soft butter-yellow feathers and a small red scarf with white polka dots, and she starts every morning by wondering what new thing she will find that day. Freddie, bright green with big golden eyes and a tiny blue cap, is always ready to hop and bounce into an adventure. One sunny morning Daisy paddles to the middle of the pond and notices something she has never seen before: a tiny island rising from the water, covered in moss and bright flowers.
Curious, the two friends swim across to explore. On the little island they find a miniature garden and a swarm of glittering dragonflies, and one of them, Zippy, hovers in front of Daisy's bill and speaks. The dragonflies built the garden themselves, carrying seeds on their wings, and they happily teach their visitors their favorite games. When Daisy asks why the dragonflies never fly far from home, Zippy admits that the wide pond frightens them because they are so small. Daisy and Freddie, who know every corner of the water, offer to show them around. Written by Jane MEADOW, this gentle tale can be read on Kids Tale Book.
