The Deer and the Snowflake

Pip, a little deer with warm-brown fur and cream spots, trots through a snowy meadow in the heart of winter, his breath rising like tiny clouds. When a glowing snowflake no bigger than his hoof drifts past and seems to beckon, Pip follows it across the meadow, over a hill and into a grove of pine trees, curious about where it will lead.

The snowflake, with its tiny friendly face and a voice like tinkling ice, guides Pip to a hidden doorway beneath a snowdrift, where a secret garden of ice flowers, frost trees and chiming music awaits, watched over by the Winter Garden Spirit. This gentle wintry tale by Çınar BİBER follows Pip's quiet adventure and the soft lesson the spirit leaves with him. Young readers can find it on Masalcı Baba, where its simple, warm prose and soft imagery make it a fitting bedtime story.
