The Deer and the Robin

In an enchanted forest, a gentle deer with golden-tan fur and a woven vine collar follows the trails she knows by heart. One breezy afternoon she comes upon a small robin with a bright orange-red breast, one wing wrapped in a leaf bandage. The bird cannot fly, yet it chirps bravely that although it cannot fly, it can sing. The deer offers to carry the robin on her back, but the robin prefers to walk beside her, and so a tender friendship begins, built on patience and gentle steps.

As the two travel on, the deer slows her pace to match the robin's hop-hop-hop and notices wildflowers and hidden glades she had never seen before. The robin practices flying a little each day while the deer cheers it on. Together they help a squirrel find acorns and rest in a glowing mushroom glade. This warm tale by Çınar BİBER explores empathy and the rewards of adjusting to a friend's needs, and it can be read on Masalcı Baba.
