Miles knows the rainforest behind his house well, so an unfamiliar rustle in the canopy catches his attention right away. High above, he spots a small creature with overlapping brown and tan scales, a pale soft face and a long curling tail. At the ranger station, Mama Ada tells him it is a tree pangolin: shy, a skilled climber, protected by its scales and armed with long curved claws for digging and gripping bark. Miles takes a notebook and pencil and returns to the same tree to learn more.
Waiting quietly, he earns the trust of the pangolin he names Pip and observes her closely, sketching her scales and gentle face. When Mama Ada explains that the rainforest pangolins depend on is shrinking, Miles decides that watching is not enough. This tale by Ebru Mina TOMURCUK follows his patient observation and his wish to help, and it can be read on Onlinemasal Com.Tr.
