On a sunny Saturday morning, Theo finds Shelly, a fifty-year-old tortoise, munching dandelion leaves in Nana Rose's garden. He is surprised to learn that Shelly is older than his father, and he starts to grasp that a long life brings long-term needs. Noticing her empty water dish, Theo understands that caring for an animal requires daily attention, not just occasional effort.

With his friend Pip and Nana Rose's help, Theo decides to make a care plan for Shelly. They go over the basics: fresh greens and calcium, a safe home with sun and shade, clean water, gentle handling, and space to roam. The project proves more challenging than expected, and Pip becomes impatient, but watching Shelly cross the lawn slowly reminds them that good things need not be rushed. Theo adds a page about friendship and talking to your tortoise, and the finished guide is printed and shared with neighbors and the pet shop. The tale can be read on Masalcı Baba. Written by Çınar BİBER, it shows young readers that planning is like building a bridge and that caring means doing a little bit every day.
