In a small village at the edge of the northern forest, eight-year-old Leo waits for winter's first snow, hoping to catch sight of the reindeer his grandmother describes. One day a reindeer named Rangifer arrives in his yard and invites Leo to accompany him through the northern habitats. Leo brings his sketchbook, drawing and writing notes as they go.
Their route passes snowy forests, rushing rivers and green summer lands, and Rangifer shows how reindeer find food in each season, from lichen beneath the snow to fresh shoots and rich grasses under the midnight sun. Leo learns about snow's role for wildlife and the difficulties of migration. This tale by Çınar BİBER, readable on Masalcı Baba, follows Leo as he turns his observations into an illustrated migration map with his grandmother.
