Ben lives at the edge of a green, muddy forest and enjoys exploring. One day, in his yellow t-shirt, green shorts and red cap, he takes a notebook into the mangrove forest, where roots and leaves stand in shallow water. There he meets a proboscis monkey with reddish-brown fur, a round belly and a large drooping nose. Ben follows it along the wooden walkway, sketching its funny face and noting how it eats leaves, swings by its long tail and naps on a wide branch. He learns that this unusual monkey lives only in the mangrove forest.
On the way home, Ben recalls his teacher's warning that mangrove forests are disappearing and the animals that depend on them are losing their homes. His happiness turns to worry, and he decides to act. He tells his parents about the monkey and proposes a conservation project, then returns with young mangrove seedlings to plant in the mud and invites his friends to help. Written by Ebru Mina TOMURCUK, this gentle tale can be read on Onlinemasal Com.Tr and suits early primary readers, parents and teachers.
