Leo, a curious boy with warm light-brown skin and big hazel eyes, stumbles upon a hidden magical garden when he pushes open a vine-covered gate. There he discovers bright flowers, dancing butterflies, and behind a bush, a baby phoenix no bigger than a small cat. The little bird has soft golden-orange down, a tiny flame-red crest, and frightened amber eyes. Leo names him Spark, shares bread from his satchel, and slowly earns his trust. But Spark has a problem: he is afraid to fly, and whenever a leaf is tossed into the air, he hides his head under his wing.
Instead of pushing him, Leo practices with Spark day by day. They start with a hop to a low leaf, then a flower, then a higher branch, and Leo cheers every small success. When a gust of wind knocks Spark off a branch, he lands safely in a bush and learns that a fall does not mean the end. Leo invents a game called Step by Step, placing leaves in a line that rises a little each time, and Spark slowly begins to trust his own wings. The final test is a shiny red berry waiting on top of the garden wall. This gentle tale by Ebru Mina TOMURCUK can be read on Onlinemasal Com.Tr.
