Leo, an eight-year-old night explorer, enjoys watching fireflies glow above the grass on warm summer evenings. This summer, however, the fireflies do not appear, and the only light comes from streetlamps and porch lights that remain on all night. With his green satchel and brass flashlight, Leo decides to investigate the mystery. He asks his sister Maya and his neighbor Mrs. Okafor, a retired science teacher, for help. Mrs. Okafor explains that excessive artificial light confuses fireflies and prevents them from finding one another.

To bring the fireflies back, Leo and Mrs. Okafor plan a neighborhood awareness evening in the park. Leo writes the invitations, Maya creates a firefly costume, and together they explain light pollution to their neighbors. They share simple steps, such as turning off extra lights after bedtime and using curtains, that can help wildlife. The community pays attention and begins making changes. This gentle story, written by Çınar BİBER, introduces young readers to light pollution and conservation. It can be read on Masalcı Baba.
