Barnaby the beaver lives in a cozy lodge by a wide, winding pond, and each morning he checks his dams with his olive tool pouch at his waist. One day, a dive to the oldest part of his dam reveals something odd: a round metal clock, half buried in the mud, still ticking underwater. With no key, battery or winding knob, Barnaby is determined to solve the puzzle.
His search for help brings him to Pip, a small muskrat with wire-rimmed spectacles and a red knitted scarf, who examines the clock with patient, careful eyes. Together they find that water flowing through a little paddle wheel on the clock's back makes it tick, and that the bent wheel causes it to stick. Fixing it requires both of them: Barnaby's strong paws to hold the clock steady and Pip's small ones to straighten each tiny paddle, with plenty of patience and a few slips along the way. This gentle tale by Çınar BİBER explores curiosity, observation and teamwork, and can be read on Masalcı Baba.
