In a small town with large green gardens, a curious boy named Leo spends his mornings observing the tiny creatures around him. One sunny day, he finds a little lizard with sandy-brown scales and tiny black bead eyes basking on a warm rock. Sitting very still so as not to frighten it, Leo watches how the lizard catches insects, hides under leaves, and darts between stones. He begins to draw it in his notebook and writes down questions he wants answered.
When Leo asks his mother why there are so many lizards in the garden, she explains that lizards are like tiny gardeners: they eat insects and help keep nature in balance, and every creature has a job to do, even the smallest ones. Inspired, Leo decides to build a safe habitat for them. Together they pile smooth rocks into little caves for hiding and sunbathing, plant native lavender, rosemary, and flowering bushes, and add a shallow dish of water. Then comes the hardest part: waiting patiently for the lizards to discover what he has made. This tale by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL can be read on Masal İzle.
